Delhi and North India
Plan a north India trip from Malaysia — Delhi, Agra, Jaipur pacing, transport tips, and how many days you really need.
North India rewards travellers who accept early mornings and sensible day gaps. The Golden Triangle — Delhi, Agra, Jaipur — remains the most popular loop for Malaysians on a first cultural holiday.
Suggested pacing
| Trip length | Realistic focus |
|---|---|
| 5–6 days | Delhi + Agra day trip or overnight |
| 7–9 days | Delhi + Agra + Jaipur |
| 10–12 days | Add Rishikesh, or slow the Triangle with rest days |
Trying to “do” Varanasi, Amritsar, and Rajasthan forts in the same week usually means airport days instead of experiences.
Delhi
Split Old and New Delhi across two days if you can. Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk lanes, and a calm garden or museum afternoon balance each other. Traffic is real — cluster sights by neighbourhood.
Agra
Sunrise or early entry at the Taj Mahal beats midday haze and crowds. Pair with Agra Fort if energy allows. Many travellers overnight rather than rush a same-day return from Delhi.
Jaipur
Pink City forts and bazaars need comfortable shoes and sun protection. If you add Amer Fort, leave buffer for the climb or jeep transfer. Shop selectively; keep valuables zipped in busy markets.
Getting around
Trains and reputable drivers cover the Triangle well. Flights help when you extend beyond Rajasthan. Book reserved seats in advance during holiday peaks and Diwali-adjacent weeks.
What to pack for the north
- Layers for cool winter mornings and warmer afternoons
- Modest clothing for temples and mosques
- A scarf or shawl for sun and etiquette
- Offline offline maps and downloaded tickets
Side ideas for a second visit
Hill towns, Punjab’s food scene, and slower Rajasthan circuits deserve their own itinerary. For beach contrast after the north, look at our Goa and west guide rather than bolting Goa onto a six-day Triangle.
